My first ride out with SDAR, unbelievably FUN!!

I've been to Lark a few times nothing as fun as this, thanks Robertaccio for showing us some amazing trails (and for the riding tips)

Bikeslut thanks for you patience. Great FUN...

Love to do it again!

Robert, when can we go back to Lark Canyon?

This is what it looks like comin' up to it

Scaled it

100_0446.jpg

Robert had to show me how it was done first

100_0442.jpg

and I had a few ugly attempts, but thankfully no documentation to prove it.

But I kept it up until I nailed it

Jon- I DO have documentation

Blind- I got to Lark, to find out I only had one glove... asked Albert if he had an extra pair, and he DID... my lucky day!

Until I saw the size of them...

OK- Here is the real ride report:

Got to Lark LATE for me... just after 8... Robert showed up just after

While we waited for Albert to unload, and Jon to show up, Robert led me on some fun trails... as Jon alluded to: If you came up on this stuff by yourself, you would probably stop and turn around... but Robert makes it look easy, so you figure, "why not?"

Here are some pics of Robert on the slab, and the terrain, in general

But Jon and Robert rode this maybe 5 times each: only one small mishap

I did not have eggs for breakfast, so didn't tackle it... We all rode the rest of the stuff... very fun, and not too dangerous

then over to Corral for some goofing around and NOT searching for the new singletrack... repeat, we were NOT

Sorry about cutting off your head, Jon

I'm going to post this before I screw it up... I have some more pics

Nice to meet you Albert, and thanks for the tour Robert...Jon

If you guys are referring to the steepness of the face... look at Robert up top... if anything, I angled the camera the wrong way... and it IS much steeper in person, but mercifully short

A couple of observations:

We went during the week...we were the ONLY people in the whole place (cept for that homeless looking guy who stopped by to use the loo and cook some breakfast)...it would NOT have been the same on a crowded weekend

4 in our group was about perfect- it was a bit dusty in the back, but not too bad...you wouldn't want to go any larger group than that

This was intermediate stuff-some of it was challenging for me, and I didn't even TRY that rock. Robert had warned me about some of the obstacles, and pointed out that there is always a way around...that being said, give it a whirl...I followed him earlier on a short intense section that I wouldn't have attempted alone, or leading. I think we all improved a little bit in just that short time (except Robert...he probably had to ride again after work, just to remember what speed he likes to go)...

Too bad you missed it Todd; it was great...best half day ride ever

It always amazes me what the bikes we ride are capable of. It is truly the rider limiting the bike in most cases, at least i know that is true for me. but i can always get better and try to learn a thing or two each time out, its funny how things like that rock face look just impossible until you sack up and get it done, then you look back and say damn well that was easy B)
