I guess everyone was waiting for me to start the ride report. Well I finally have some time to post our adventures. It started off pretty well as Myself and Sock and Awe crossed paths with Javi and Tim on the way to the border and shortly after we arrived Kkug (Ken) showed up. We unloaded in the dark and waited till about 6:45 for anyone else to get there. But no one did so we headed out. Took the long way to santa veronica through pinos blancos. 3/4 of the way through the trail we stopped and Tim noticed my bike leaking oil. We did a little tightening on the side cover where it seemed to be coming from along with putting a new nut on one of the engine mount bolts that had seemed to disapear. th_laguna4.jpg th_Laguna7.jpg th_Laguna23.jpg I decided to keep going and investigate further at Santa veronica store. We got there without any other issues. I took off the skid plate to get a better idea of the issue while everyone was gassing up. decided it would be good to go as long as I bought some oil and carried it with me. so we had some burrittos and got going again. The trails were fun as i remembered with some sections of rocks, sand, and whoops. Goup pics. th_Laguna17.jpg th_Laguna15.jpg Then we got a little off track. We headed southwest when we should have headed east. We stopped to get our bearing and notice Shock didn't have any in his back wheel.th_Laguna19.jpg th_Laguna18.jpg We were at our half way point on our gas level so we decided to turn around rather then try to hit laguna with the possibility of going in another wrong direction and being stuck out there. It was too cold to be out there over night. The only problem was we weren't sure how long Shocks bike could go without wheel bearings. It turns out pretty far as he made it all the way back to compadre trail where he was able to pay a rancher to take him and his bike back to the border where we went ahead and waited for him. th_Laguna21.jpg th_Laguna22.jpg It was a long slow trip back with having to stop often to get his chain back on the sprocket but we all made it back to the border a little after dark and Paul treat us to dinner where we had a great time talking about the trip.

Santa Veronica to Laguna Hanson - 4 min

On the return trip I had to crawl out of Baja in first or second gear because the chain kept falling off from not having bearings in the rear wheel. Sorry for the mechanical issues and thanks for the patience and help. It was a beautiful ride although the second half was slow. I paid a mute Mexican to haul my KTM back to the border in a 1950s Chevrolet truck that drove as fast off-road as it did on-road. I rode about 120 miles; the others rode more.

Tecate border crossing (pavement) - 6 min

Tecate to Santa Veronica - 4 min

This is the crack in the rear wheel hub. When I took the tire off and pulled a tunnel out of the hub, you could see thru the hole into the hub. I bought a new Warp 9 wheel direct from Warp 9 to help the little guy out. I paid $400 and the next day I found out Cycle Gear sells them for the same price and includes a free tire. B)

Here are the bearings.

Ken and I collided a little in a deep sand wash that came out of nowhere. My master cylinder clutch cover cracked. It was leaking some fluid so Javi and I pulled out some duct tape to seal it.

This year-old front sprocket is supposed to have 13 teeth. I count 11 after Baja.
