shocknawe, briana and I went to check out the golden acorn today. It was better than I had hoped for. They have a water truck running non stop and the track layout was great. The soil was just plain old dirt. Not sand but not clay either. No dust to speak of with the water truck going non stop and it rained a bit out there today. The weather was perfect for mid summer.

The track is pure MX, the jumps are huge (lots of huge table tops) but if you can't clear them the landings are surprisingly forgiving. I'd never tried the track before but I had a great time and could catch some big air by the end of the day. Its very easy to work up to the big jumps. I'd say there were maybe 7-8 people on the track max at any time. You can ride as slow or fast as you like and no one cares.

It was awesome, I'm excited to go back.

Heres the wife jumping the last tabletop

An OHV park next to a Casino, Buffet and a Hotel with a Swimming Pool.

What is the Downside?

Thats what I think Pala is aiming to do as well. They are going to have shuttles from the track to the casino so if people get bored then can come and go etc. Jumping looks like fun but it still freaks me out because I have not really done it on a bike (bicycle yes)

that's the good thing about tabletops... Coming up short doesn't hurt like it does on a double... I hope to ride there Thursday. If I go alone, I won't have pics...

The jumps at Acorn were a little bigger than the vet track jumps at Pala and were more forgiving. We rode 45 miles - not sure what the lap length is - will check next time. My 4 stroke had smoother, safer power than my twitchy 2 stroke. Not sure which I prefer for MX tracks.

Way too much fun - will definitely go back.

My helmet camera videos came out sideways so I have to record new ones. Oh darn. :clapping:

Thx for the report. Gotta give it to Shock....always pushing himself & trying stuff....kudos. I may have to try it since I haven't been on a track in, well, uh, 25 years.
