Zenosan 2 Posted May 6, 2009 I’m thinking about going for a ride on Sat morning……I figure some of you might be free on Saturday and many of you will be in lock-down on Sunday.....Anyway, I don't feel like trailering out to some distant spot……I'd rather just ride out of my garage and take a spin........I'd be game to meet some folks at Packard’s in Ramona (7th & Main) and ride to Idyllwild for lunch (Paved or Dirty) ....... Just need to decide which bike I’m taking…….Superhawk or 620 ADV …….once I figure that out, I’ll post again …….just thought I’d get you thinking about it I might be interested Chris. If it is an easy ride Tish might be willing to do a two up with me on the Virago. Don

edeslaur 0 Posted May 6, 2009 SWMBO likes to ride street, and we're in Ramona. If it's dirt, not sure the Husky's back in riding shape yet, have an air filter that needs cleaning and a couple of other chores, may not be done by then. Either way, don't let that spin you one way or t'other, we're prolly riding either way. Ah, just checked with her and the kids have eye dr. appts in the AM and cheer meeting at noon. Nevermind... Crawdaddy 96 Posted May 6, 2009 I’m thinking about going for a ride on Sat morning……Just need to decide which bike I’m taking…… Ok, I've decided I'll ride the 620 ADV and shorten the loop to ~140 miles so no one has to grovel for an "ALL Day" hall pass on this politically sensitive weekend I think I'll just ride what I refer to as "Bagstr's Ramona Loop" rather than heading all the way up to Idyllwild (Idyllwild would likely turn into an all day deal)......so how bout a mellow ride for ALL skill levels/ALL bikes........some socializing/camaraderie mixed in with some cool morning temps/scenery.........should be back to Ramona by mid day (sorta depends on whether you opt to stop for a bite to eat up in Anza or stop off for something to eat and/or a cold malted beverage at the Hideout on the way back to Ramona…..no need for us to all to stay together…….just please let me know before you tail off, or charge ahead, so I can account for everyone)...... Go HERE for details/tracks on the Ramona Loop. Packard’s for coffee at 8am.......rolling away around 8:30am...... Who's "in"?

Crawdaddy 96 Posted May 6, 2009 How many of these roads are not paved? Something a street bike can ride, or is it a dualsport thing? Probably ~70% paved (? )........but a street bike wouldn't be too much fun once Lost Valley turns "dirty".........likewise, Palomar Divide wouldn't be much fun on a street bike either (IMHO)....... tntmo 896 Posted May 6, 2009 Think a scooter with knobbies could make it? Just kidding, I'm camping with the Boy Scouts out at Mataguay. Turns out the Boy Scouts are pretty smart and had a camping event on mother's day weekend so none of us have to get anything for the ladies. Enjoy your ride. cmayer31 3 Posted May 6, 2009 I'd be interested in tagging along. Are there any gas stops planned? I haven't pushed the mileage on the XR650R's tank yet, so with the 4.6 gallon IMS and approx. 140 miles I'd need to average 31 mpg. Sounds like there's enough dirt that I wouldn't want to take the street only bike.

No need to brim the tank........there's gas available in Anza which is ~half way through the ride.......so you only need a range of ~80 miles to be comfortable........and since the ride will be easy terrain/paved your mileage/gallon oughta be quite good.....you'll probably only burn 2-2.5 gallons between Ramona and Anza (max.).....so if you have ~4 in your tank that oughta be more than ample..... Correct, street bike is out....

Sure, bring Nate along.......I didn't know Nate's bike was street plated??............that would be great.......geez, if Nate goes I may have to bring Jarrett.........in which case I'll be on the 520 (if the head work is done in time) and he'll be on the Exxon Valdez tanker if anyone needs to be topped off......that said, making it to the halfway point on your 450 should be a non-issue as long as you're full leaving Ramona.... Come over to the house before the ride so I can give you the quick GPS tutorial/download the tracks on your handheld

Bagstr 287 Posted May 6, 2009 Crawdaddy, Certainly is hard work organizing a ride, aint it? Done thinking. I will enjoy joining in. Thanks for hosting a "Big Bike" appropriate ride. Packard's 0800.
Crawdaddy 96 Posted May 6, 2009 I will enjoy joining in. Good, wouldn't be right for us to ride "Bagstr's Loop" w/o Bagstr .......feel free to recruit Captcham and whomever else from the ADVRider board.......I'm sure there are a few local ADVRider.com guys that aren't active on SDAR because they think we're only interested in Dualsport bikes as opposed to ADV bikes.......not true!
